Valerie O’Connor is a fermenting expert, cookbook author and food journalist from the Sunday Times and Irish Examiner.
Fermenting foods is quickly becoming a way that we can easily introduce delicious, nutritious and probiotic foods into our diets. Fermenting foods has been used for thousands of years to preserve foods in season and in doing so we create millions of good bacteria that can populate our gut and lead to an improvement in health and a reduction in conditions like IBS, bloating, allergies and of course there is the gut/brain connection too. In this exciting demo you will see how easy it is to make your own sauerkraut and kimchi at home, taste kefir, kombucha and kvass and sourdough bread too. Fermenting food brings a new dimension to your cooking and you will have the knowledge you need to get started in making these foods at home to help you get healthier and stay well. All recipes and resources are provided as well as everything to taste on the night.
